Reimbursement and Fostering Guidelines

Effective January 1, 2008

Reimbursement Guidelines

 1. Medical – All vetting or medical supplies must be approved through the President to be considered reimbursable. The ONLY exception to this rule is if the cat is in a life or death emergency – as in the cat will die if not given immediate medical treatment. Vetting or medical supplies purchased without approval or outside the exceptions listed above, will not be reimbursed. All medical expenses must be mailed to the rescue with a receipt and Expense Report to be reimbursed. All expenses must be submitted within two (2) weeks of incurrence.

 2. Gasoline reimbursement. All gas for trips over 50 miles round trip is reimbursed with receipts whenever a foster picks up a cat from a shelter or transfers a cat to another foster. Each receipt will have the location, date, and cat name involved in the transport. The receipt(s) and Expense Report must be mailed to the rescue within two (2) weeks of incurrence.

 3. Large Rescues. If a foster has more than four (4) foster cats, food, litter, and gasoline for trips over 50 miles roundtrip, may be reimbursed as well as other supplies, with the approval of the President.

 4. Supplies. Food, litter, toys, carriers, bedding, housing, and anything that is not medical or gas expense is not reimbursable unless otherwise agreed to with the President.

Fostering Guidelines

 1. I understand that I may freely decline fostering any cat for any reason without consequence.

 2. I understand that if I am bitten or attacked by a cat in which blood is drawn (other than a scratch), that I need to notify the President immediately.

 3. I understand that GLBR assumes no liability for injuries or sickness due to fostering cats. I understand that fostering any rescue cat carries its own set of risks, including sickness and injury to myself, children, and other animals. The majority of the time this can be prevented simply by keeping the cat separated from your own pets.

4. I understand that my cat(s) must have been felv/fiv tested with a negative result(s)

 5. I understand that it is my own responsibility to read the rules and regulations for animal upkeep/limits/etc. within the state in which I reside. It is also my choice to follow or ignore the state guidelines, and GLBR assumes no liability for any decisions made by foster to ignore state regulations.

 6. I understand that if Animal Control visits my residence for any type of complaint concerning number of animals, housing condition, etc., while I am fostering bengals, that I shall immediately notify the President for further assistance.

 7. Medications and prescribed food purchased for foster cats are not to be used on personal cats. If I am given medication or food from GLBR to treat a foster cat, I understand that I will treat said cat as instructed by the President, regardless if I agree or not. I will not deviate from any medical or feeding instructions I am given, and if I feel I cannot follow through with treatments as instructed, I will contact the President for further resolution or give cat back to GLBR to be fostered by another person.

8. I understand that I cannot give the foster cat to another individual; put the foster cat outside; give the foster cat to another rescue or turn the foster cat into a shelter.

I understand and agree to the terms above.
